Apopka, Fla (July 21, 2023) -- The story of “How I Spent my Summer Vacation” is a unique and rewarding one for teens like Evan Gabryluk.
News 6’s (WKMG-TV) Julie Broughton shared Evan’s experience and featured Addition Financial’s High School Branch summer intern program as part of the news station’s Getting Results in Our Schools segment. The 17-year-old is interning at the Apopka branch of Addition Financial this summer before starting his senior year at Ocoee High School. He told News 6 he began working at the high school branch as a sophomore.
At the end of my tenth-grade year, I saw a flyer for a paid position at the school, essentially a paid class. I looked into it, I emailed the coordinator for it. And then I interviewed for it,” Gabryluk told News 6. “So being able to have this opportunity and being able to learn all this, all these things I never knew about money, it’s been amazing. And I’m hoping that I can spread this information, to all my friends, all my family who are maybe struggling with it, too. And, you know, hopefully, we can make more people more financially literate.”
Jamari Harden, a former Addition Financial High School teller and current full time team member, and Apopka branch manager Isabel Ghanoo also spoke to News 6 about how the summer intern program benefits not only students but also the branches themselves.
