LAKE MARY, Fla (June 4, 2024) – Addition Financial Credit Union completed its 16th year of its High School Branch Program in May, and the numbers add up to another class of students successfully running branches in Central Florida high schools.  Here you can check out some of the highlights from the financial education and on-the-job work experience the students accrued during the 2023-2024 school year:

  • 170 students worked across Addition Financial’s 10 high school branches as student tellers and member service representatives.
  • Students opened 800 new Addition Financial accounts at high school locations during the school year, led by Poinciana High School, with 148 accounts.
  • students at the high school branches worked at local full-service branches on Saturdays during the school year.
  • 10 students in the high school branch program will be working at full-service branches over the summer as paid interns.
  • One student, Laura Tenorio from Colonial High School, received the annual student teller scholarship, awarded by Addition Financial to a senior in the High School Branch Program.

Addition Financial’s High School Branch Program is designed to provide hands-on financial education and money management skills via real-world work experience. The credit union trains students who are accepted into the program and prepares them to fully staff and run the credit union branches as tellers or member service representatives. The on-campus branches conduct transactions just as tellers would in a traditional branch setting.

Some students in the program become full-time Addition Financial team members upon graduation.
